1 watt led vs 3w leds and led foot print guidelines
The
hornet grow light design is generation 3 for grow lights they are now
on Gen 5 but only based on the lens! the casing is still really Gen 4
(My Stingers) with modules! Modules are the best for maintenance! not
necessarily best design for LED/per sq inch! this being said I still
believe in my hornets 1w leds lights for scrog and sea of green growing
methods! Based on the fact that with 1w casings vs 3w you get twice the
leds in each casing giving you more light colors per sq inch!
The
module design limits leds per sq inch by a lot. 3w leds just helps some
for deeper penetration but give you less efficiency for the light. 1w
leds will always be the most efficient for energy usage. With 1w leds
you just need to keep the light closer which in turn reduces the foot
print a little. but you can save about 25-30% on lights buy adding a
light rail! Light rails are great for two reasons one it reduces the
shadows from stationary lights and reduce the lights per sq ft area!.
1. 303 stands for 300w 3w leds a 301 is a 300 1w led light.
2 ft print I tell every one to just figure 12 " around the size of the
light at 3' above plant and 6 inches around light when 2' less above
plant! So how ever you lay ou the light keep them close enough so they
over lap! weather it be from the end of the lights or side by side.
for flowering based on how tall your plant is keep at least 12" + above plant! you shouldn't need to be any closer
unless you are growing 3' + plant size. With 3w leds you can increase this by 6" +.
How many lights will you need?
Well based on the info I gave you, you can take any casing size light
and figure your sq ft print of each light based on my recommendations
for growing MM with leds grow lights! The Hornet 300w is 19.68" x 11.8
